Can a viola be strung to sound like a violin?

My proportions are best suited to a viola but I like the higher sounds (E string) of the violin. Is this possible?

Can a viola be strung to sound like a violin?
No, Violin strings wouldn't fit on a viola and viola strings would break if tuned to violin pitches. My suggestion is to look into specialized instruments. I play the cello and I found a rare size for adults with small hands. I also remember meeting a violinist with an above average sized violin. I don't remember where he got it (but it was either in California or Oregon).
Reply:It is possible, although I wouldn't recommend it. It would sound to, well, strange.
Reply:You could experiment with an older viola which you don't play, and maybe try customizing it to just put an extra E string on it. You would have to move the pegs slightly and the bridge but it could be possible, just would take a lot of work.
Reply:No it will sound too basey
Reply:If you put on the lightest gauge of violin strings, you would need to tighten them incredibly tight to get them up to violin pitch. The pegs would always be slipping. Are you sure you've played a full sized (4/4) violin? A friend of mine had a 3/4 and didn't realize it.
Reply:as you may or may not know the viola and the violin are two different sizes with one string difference one has c (viola ) ad the other has e(violin) so it is not possible .
Reply:No. It will never sound the same because the construction and size of the instrument governs the sound as much as the strings.
