How to play the viola?

i'm a violinist but now i HAVE to switch to viola due to my school class schedules so can somebody tell me how to read the viola music sheets and where open "D" is on the bar and how i can be a better violist?

How to play the viola?
Viola is slightly larger than Violin, and of course it is pitched one fifth lower. The lowest string is C instead of G and the Highest string is A instead of E, but it still pitched in perfect Fifths "C"an't "G"et "D"own "A"gain. The biggest transition you are going to have is getting used to Alto Clef, also known as "C" clef. It looks like a K with one too many backs, and it literally points (backwards) to middle C.

You can use the same Mnemonics with a minimum of fuss. From the Bottom line up, F - A - C - E - G (Face Guard) and from the space UNDER the staff to the space ABOVE the staff "E"mpty "G"arbage "B"efore "D"ad "F"reaks "A"gain

So the Face is on the lines instead of the spaces, and the E/G/B/D/F/A is on the spaces instead of the lines. Open D is on the Third space from the bottom of the staff, or the space immediately above Middle C, which the C clef points out to.

The lowest note is C, which is on the space below the first ledger line. The highest string (A) is the space immediately above the staff. Once you get used to the new clef however, it shouldn't be that much of a transition. I put some links below just in case you need them. Best of luck and if yuou have any more questions, just give me a shout.
Reply:open d...hm. no clue off the top of my head.. (i haven't written a song with viola in a while)

all i know for sure is that the middle line is a c... i htink middle (the c in 1st pos on g string on violin)
