Transposing viola music for clarinet?

I have a piece I am playing in my chamber orchestra group and I play Bb clarinet and they just gave me the viola part to play. I can transpose from concert pitch(in treble clef) to anything for clarinet, but I don't know how to read the alto clef and transpose it into treble. So if anyone knows how to do that, please let me know asap, that would be really helpful.

IN the Alto clef, Middle C is the third line on the staff. So remember: The B flat clarinet sounds a half step lower than concert pitch. Therefore, if you see a middle C on the alto clef, Clarinet must play a D, but the one below the first line.
Reply:The alto cleft looks like a Fancy number 3. What ever line the middle of the cleft is pointing to, is middle C. The middle of the cleft will always be pointing to a line, and never a space.

so where your starting line in treble is g, it is a in alto
