What should I play? Cello or viola?

I have to play either violin, viola, cello, or base for school. I decided against violin because sooo many people pick that and against base because you have to spand while you play it lol. Viola is a better size for me but I have to carry it to and from school and with cello I get one for home and one for school. I kind of want whichever one's easier. Which one should i pick?

What should I play? Cello or viola?
Cello - because the Viola is the same as a Violin only its sound tone is different. You will have to convert all your notes played on a violin in order to play the viola.

On the other hand the cello is no mean instrument - its a huge piece to lug back and forth - though its sound is not the same as a violin, viola. If using the Cello, you need a place to sit - if using the viola you need a good chin rest.
Reply:Alright. This answer depends of two things. You got to ask yourself if 1) If you want to play the instrument because you love it, or just because of academic requirements. If you want to play it because you love X instrument (any instrument) then you should have no problem picking up any instrument that you love without worrying if its to heavy or if anyone play it already. On the other hand if you just want to play it to pass your academic req. then you should pick up an instrument that fits your convenience and time available. There are instruments that need more time to learn than others. Anyway, whatever you decide, enjoy it, because it could be the first day of a potentially good new musician. Bye Enjoy.
Reply:With the viola, you have to read the C clef, or whatever it's called, so if you're already used to reading music, maybe the cello would be easier. I really like the deep cello sound, too.
Reply:It would suck having to carry it every day. If you're sure you'll get one for home too I'd pick cello.
Reply:There is more music available for the cello. Pick the cello. As a cello player, you won't always be relegated to the background, like you would if you played the viola.

If you are thinking about picking the viola, you might as well reconsider and go with the violin, because it's a much more satisfying instrument to play.

I'd council you to go with the violin, since you'll really enjoy it if/when you stick with it and get good at it.
Reply:Bass!!! You can play classical with it or put the bow down and play jazz with your fingers. A stand up full size acoustic bass in a jazz band is just awesome!
Reply:try the cello at least you can sit while you play it even though it's a pain in the butt to carry and if your good you might be able to get a scholarship.
Reply:Violas are beautiful instruments. I'm a cello fan.
Reply:a viola i think
Reply:Pick viola. I played it and it is beautiful.

Very easy to cart around too.
